This funny little monkey is going to be all of four years old tomorrow!
As each year passes with these two boys of mine I feel them stretching towards independence. This one seems to be growing up so much faster. His cuddles are doled out judiciously. They have been replaced with drawings, oh so many drawings, long chats about what is important to him and an incredible exuberance for life, bordering on wildness at times. I have to stop and breath more. Slow down a bit for me and for him and and enjoy the funny little things. He has turned from a quiet little one to the loudest in the house. You can hear him long before you see him coming. He remains steadfastly concerned about the dark and brave about almost anything else. He holds his own with his bigger brother and at the end of the day he brings us all together by “rounding up our love”. I can’t imagine our family without him.
Happy birthday little bean! Here’s a special five senses friday just for you.
seeing: a birthday ring filled with fall goodness for a boy on the eve of his fourth year.
feeling: nostalgic for the baby years that have passed and excited for the big boy years to come.
hearing: him laugh as he crunches fall leaves in his hands and tosses them at me.
smelling: his freshly washed hair.
tasting: crumbs of gluten free chocolate cake. a favourite of his and mine.
