what to do with a bowl of rotting tree fruits

applecrisp

Make apple/pear crisp of course . . .

1. Peel and core fruit and cut up in to equal size chunks (about 1/2 inch). You can use any tree fruits or berries or a combination. Put fruit in a baking dish of any size. I used about 6-8 pears and apples and a fairly large, shallow oval dish for this one.

2. Combine 2 cups oatmeal, 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar (or sucanat), 1 tsp or so cinnamon, and 1/2 cup soft butter with your hands until it makes a nice crumbly mixture. Sprinkle crumbly mixture on top of fruit. You can always save the topping in the fridge for a little while if you make too much.

3. Bake at 400 degrees until it gets brown and bubbly.

4. Make a cup of tea while it’s in the oven.

5. Enjoy with your tea!

And if you have a few rotting bananas in your fruit bowl too then try this! I have successfully made with kamut flour and sucanat substitutions.

  1. Apple / pear crisp sounds delicious. I’ll have mine warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream please…
